On a clear day, at low tide, if you are very quiet and move very slowly, you can sometimes see the pebbles staring wistfully off into the distance.

What are they thinking about? No one really knows.

I asked them once, but they were very tight lipped about it.

In Peru, where I have just assumed Perudo comes from, they make dice cups by taking miniature jam jars and sheathing them in mountain bike inner tubes, so that the dice can be shaken and viewed from the top, while excluding the opponents view from the side.

As you can imagine, this has revolutionised the game. Or, rather it will, just as soon as I've sent them all a message about it all.

I think I'll be looking to do this whenever I go to a restaurant and get drunk, although it may not be a conscious choice.

It certainly didn't have the discounting effect on the bill that we were hoping for.
