So I went with Simon and a couple of the guys from his work (sadly no Andy) and we headed off with Richard Seager in his awesome boat for a day's wreck fishing.
To my mind the fish we were catching were MONSTERS. Pollock all day long (I got 7) and all between 8 and 12lb. I took 6 home to eat (not all in one go) and as a result I could barely carry them home. I mean, just look at them:
It's bordering on whale hunting for someone of my weakened constitution.

00337 Feb catchup
Most importantly this month - the emergence of another question to add to the hitherto unpublished list:
What covers most of the sea bed?
Here's the only other two I can remember:
What's the difference between a Prime Minister and a President? Why do some countries have one, the other or both or none?
and
Is honey better for you than sugar?
Maybe I get the answers, maybe I don't.
In other news, Skiing (or rather snowboarding) accompanied by obligatory drinking:

00297 Fish for everyone
So the trip we had booked in ages ago came up and irt was a superb day - beautiful sunny weather and a massive (by my standards) haul. I took so many home I could barely carry them. I caught mackerel, pollock, bream and turbot, the latter of which was coveted by the other "rod-heads" (don't know if that's a legit phrase, but it'll do).
Did take me around two odd hours to gut, scale and fillet, mind - I'm like an expert and everything now.
And I smell of fish.

00239 Fishin' & eatin'

After a couple of fruitless, but interesting fishing trips with my birthday present (two fishing rods & accompanying reels), I went on a boat trip to catch fish. There really wasn't much to catch - mostly because of the time of year, or so I'm led to believe.
Anyway everyone eventually caught at least one (mostly bream) and I took my two home to eat. One of the fish I was told was a little on the small size, but I was determined to cut it down to size and eat it as sushimi, which turned out to be awesome. The larger one I shared with Meriel and went down a treat steamed with butter and accompanied by home made tartar sauce and chips. Pukka, it might be said.
The upshot of all of this is that the idea of fishing off the rocks, given the time and the expertise, is looking really appealing and I'm now ultra determined to crack it.
