00334 Cordless wire

But not wireless cord.

I don't have two wireless receivers, so I cut up a connecting cable and extended it with spare wire I had lying around. Now both flashes are triggeres wirelessly.

Well, one of them is and one of them has like a step-wireless trigger. Either way, the camera's not attached to them:

I also keep gels in a packet on my flag:

Just like everyone else does.

Probably.

00333 Birthday flash

It's not what you get from your wife.

Well ... it is ... kind of.

Anyway now I have two:

Two strobes

and they both work together. Although ironically I took a few shots of this guy who came around the other day and when only one worked I liked it the best:

hi, do you have a torch?

Green, eh?

00332 Case Jumper

We were just standing there at the bottom and everyone was really nervous. Nobody thought he'd do it.

Then somebody shouted and pointed to the top and you could see this spec getting bigger and bigger.

Check out this shot I got of him:

Case jumper

He's crazy.

Bet he gets laid. He's so cool.

00330 Previews

What next?

Coming soon

Aaaah!

00329 The news

And finally ...

News

5 mins to go

ok, ok ...

papers - check
phone off - check
make up - check
hair - ok, no hair
legs - aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

00328 Rakey, rakey

Did I say I had a new rake? Poring through catalogues of rakes online was coming a little too close to browsing rake-porn, so I bought a child's rake (portable and surprisingly manly, not) and mum gave me her old gravel rake. Good old mum. Did a bit on the beach, KAPed it up etc.

Rake Crest

I wonder how many other people are suffering from "image processing backlog blues". Just me again? Thought so. The bigger, wider versions of this are in the queue (isn't that a weirdly spelt word?).

00327 Old and new

Although I try to avoid going over old ground, the last time I KAPed the Vazon causeway it was really gust and it was with my old steam powered camera. So here we go again, old on the left ... it's pretty obvious, really:

Vazon Slipway Vazon slipway

Aaaah, yes, much better.

00326 fists and boxing

This is just bumf, but so is all the stuff I find in my belly button. Oh, no, wait, that's fluff.

Anyway, Birthdays come and go, but this year I wanted to make it a special day, so I bought some cord. I always party this hard. And what do you do with cord? You make monkey's fists, naturally.

Monkey's fist

Doesn't everyone. I'm so into knots, but I try to avoid negativity. Although so saying, with the addition of a lead weight (as in the one above), this makes a passable wife-beater. Or so I've been told (not by my wife).

The boxes come from here and here. Do them and your life will remain unchanged as a result (apart from the time you lost making them):

00325 The unusual suspects

"McManus came to us with the job, Fenster got the vans, Hockney supplied the hardware, I came through with how to do it so no one got killed, but Keaton... Keaton put on the finishing touch - he made these tiny little people out of this stuff he found in a box."

The unusual suspects

00324

Much though I avoid making my blog into a link farm, this piece about Cris Benton and his KAPing is really engaging:

In fact it's just another reason for me to re-kindle my desire to have "awesomeness" added to the dictionary as a real word (with the definition reading, "may cause Geek").
Of course, to make it a bit more worthwhile I did head out with Kev yesterday to help him sort out his kite. And as I rushed to help him keep his fingers as kite line stripped the flesh from his digits, I remember thinking, maybe I should care less, then I'd get better images than this:

Fort Grey slip

Don't even talk to me about the shots he got.

Oh, you're not. Suit yourself.

00323 Grandpa

Grandpa

I was going to use the schematic for a "Wanted" poster, but that one's better, I reckon.

Weights

Not too sure I like the lighting setup for these. The tent I made from cardboard is getting in the way a bit. Might have to make something a little more substantial.

00322 Sparebots move into the virtual world

It all used to be so simple. Components, a hot iron, solder and too much time on my hands. But oh no, I had to start planning the shots, start looking behind the veil (I'm not too sure what the veil is, it's just one of those metaphysical things). And now here we are staring up at the skies while he falls int the abyss.

What I mean is that I sketched it up:

00321 Spontaneous causeway KAP

Went for a walk at the weekend and found a bit of wind, a setting sun a causeway, KAP gear and a sympathetic wife. She's so nice to me. Look what she let me do.

Although I don't know why she looks at me with sad eyes when I do it. Maybe she's ovecome by the awesomeness.

00320 There are too many of them!

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! They're taking over!

Hi (by Lenny&Meriel)

This one above was a composit, but I spent so much time fannying around making sure that the figures didn't overlap or anything that I forgot to composr the shot and sort out the scenery.

And now I have a new piece of equipment. It's made from cutting edge materials, but only in that I cut all the edges.

It's cardboard.

With paper stuck on it.

00319 All my dreams come true

I had a dream last night that I was a wildly affluent genius who spent all of his spare time making tiny people out of electronic components. Imagine my surprise to wake up an find that the man was real and it was me!

Apart from the bit about being rich.

And the bit about being a genius (although I do have a CSE in classical studies)

They talk to me, you know, the little people. They say "get a life".

And I've just moved into this really cool new studio
(or "my lounge" as Meriel so wittily puts it):

It's chocka with expensive equipment too:

Bet you wish you were me, eh?
